Adoption FAQS

What is the adoption process like?

We require a adoption application and contract, a interview with our adoption team, a meet and greet, meet and great with other animals in the home, a home check, an adoption fee, veterinary reference, and a personal reference.

What is included in the adoption fee?

Pets will be spayed/neuter, up to date on vaccinations, medical care up to date, microchipped, a small bag of food to go, a collar, and leash. There also may be a training consultation done if you are adopting a pup. We will also send out information for our trainer.

How long does the adoption process take?

This will highly depend on the animal, the availability of the adopters, and ability to arrange all the necessary parts of the process.

Can I adopt if I rent or live in an apartment?

Yes, but there will need to be a plan in place for exercise and bathroom breaks.

Do I need a fenced in yard?

Not always a requirement but it depends on the type of rescue and breed that you are wanting to adopt. In some cases, this may be a requirement.

Can I do a trial or foster-to-adopt?

YES! We highly encourage a foster to adopt to make sure that the potential pet is a good fit for your life style.

Can I return the pet if it doesn’t work out?

Once a CJ Rescue rescue, always a CJ Rescue rescue! If it does not work out, it is in the contract that you will return the rescue to CJ Rescue so we can make sure that it is properly placed again.

Do I need to be a certain age to adopt?

The adopter must be 18 years old and must be able to care and house the pet that they are wanting to adopt.

Do I need references?

Yes, you will need veterinary and personal references.
